HII offers summer internship opportunities with the HII Corporate office and the Ingalls Shipbuilding and Newport News Shipbuilding divisions. These are paid summer internships with students working full-time (40 hours a week) for 10 consecutive weeks. The Ingalls Apprentice School, founded in 1952 located in Pascagoula, MS, is recognized as the backbone of a well-trained workforce offering 14 specialized craft apprenticeship programs. Our Apprentice programs consist of instruction and hands-on development. This allows our apprentices to receive an education, build work ethic, gain experience and develop into world-class journeymen of their crafts.
The Apprentice School, founded in 1919 at Newport News Shipbuilding and located in Newport News, VA, is the preeminent apprenticeship in the nation offering apprenticeships in 19 shipbuilding disciplines and 8 advanced programs of study. We are accredited by the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education and registered with the Virginia Apprenticeship Council. The school offers apprentices the opportunity to earn college credit, receive competitive pay and benefits and learn a trade.
