In Service of the Nation

HII's Ingalls Shipbuilding division is the largest manufacturing employer in Mississippi and a major contributor to the economic growth of Alabama, employing more than 11,000 shipbuilders. For 87 years, Ingalls has designed, built and maintained amphibious ships and destroyers for the U.S. Navy. As the largest supplier of U.S. Navy surface combatants, Ingalls is simultaneously building three classes of ships and has pioneered the development and production of technologically advanced, highly capable ships for the surface Navy fleet for decades. Our shipbuilders are honored to build tomorrow's fleet today.

As part of our legacy, Ingalls Shipbuilding has continuously proven to have the world-class talent, experience, and facilities to simultaneously build more classes of ships than any other shipyard in America. Ingalls is the builder-of-record for both the Arleigh Burke class (DDG 51) guided missile destroyers and America class (LHA 6) large deck amphibious ships; and the sole builder of the Navy San Antonio class (LPD 17) amphibious assault ships.

Community Service

At Ingalls we take seriously the opportunity to serve the community in ways beyond being a source of dynamic careers and stable jobs. We recently launched "Ingalls Cares," a program that produces and manages community volunteer projects and hands-on engagement opportunities for our workforce. For example, in the last year, we awarded over $99,000 in educational STEM grants to schools and educational organizations in Mississippi and Alabama, donated time and goods to book drives for children and holiday Angel Tree drives, raised funds and participated in the annual Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Biloxi, Mississippi, and worked with transitioning sailors, soldiers, airmen, and Marines as part of the Transition Assistance Program with Fleet Support Services.
