Newport News Shipbuilding designs, builds and refuels U.S. Navy nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and is one of only two shipyards capable of designing and building nuclear-powered submarines. Headquartered in Newport News, Virginia, we are the state’s largest industrial employer, with more than 26,000 shipbuilders in Virginia and at an additional site in South Carolina. Together, we collaborate at the forefront of technology, manufacturing and integration to build the most powerful and survivable naval ships in the world.

Community Service
Whether it’s spending time after hours to mentor the next generation of shipbuilders or helping construct a house for a local family, our shipbuilding team is proud to give back to the community that we call home.
In the last year, we donated thousands of items for local back-to-school drives, built houses with Habitat for Humanity, volunteered at food banks and participated in numerous military/veteran job fair and career events. Our volunteer program NNS Gives is here to help you contribute your time and skills to a cause you care about by offering a variety of community volunteer projects and hands-on engagement opportunities.
