John K. Welch

Former President and Chief Executive Officer of Centrus Energy

John K. Welch is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Centrus Energy Corp. (formerly USEC, Inc.). Prior to Centrus, Welch was a senior executive with General Dynamics Corp., retiring from the company in 2003 as Executive Vice President for the Marine Systems Group, which included Bath Iron Works, Electric Boat, and National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO). He previously served as President, Vice President of Programs and Vice President for Program Development at Electric Boat.

Welch served on the board of directors of Centrus Energy Corp. and its predecessor, USEC Inc., from 2005 through 2013. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Battelle Memorial Institute. He currently serves as Chairman for Ocean Reef Community Association and serves on the board of Novawall Systems Incorporated and Mount St. Joseph High.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, served for seven years as a Nuclear Submarine Officer and retired from the Naval Reserve. He also earned a master’s degree in aeronautical engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School and a master’s of business administration from Loyola College.
