Machine Learning (ml)

HII’s advanced ML applications support a range of defense needs, including automated analysis of imagery, radio-frequency spectrum, acoustic environment, cyber data and natural language for intelligence production.

As the leading shipbuilder and developer of autonomous maritime platforms, we also leverage our deep domain and data knowledge across the full cradle-to-grave lifecycle to build ML for fleet sustainment, operational readiness and mission resiliency under contested logistics.

We are also developing ML-based operational decision aids that are a seamless extension of our capability as the leading developer of enterprise-scale LVC and simulator-based training for all the service branches.

Deep neural networks have been used to learn about and model complex systems so they can be analyzed automatically at unprecedented speed and accuracy. The data can be natural language, imagery, sensor measurements or a mix of source types. HII has deployed deep learning AI with transformer-based architectures at enterprise scale, to precisely search for signals in massive volumes of often highly cluttered data.

HII is developing unprecedented intelligence capability by exploiting and fusing data across different modalities, including geospatial imagery, RF spectral signals and natural language media. This improves accuracy and closes critical gaps in the resulting intelligence.

AI-Powered Publicly Available Information (PAI) Exploitation

HII has developed a petabyte-scale data analytics platform based on a modern architecture to analyze media with PAI across a large number of languages. We employ state-of-the-art natural language processing (NLP) technology based on DL and ML to augment analyst teams in sorting and connecting information and insights for a wide range of global missions.

Odyssey, HII’s Advanced autonomy suite transforms any vehicle into an intelligent robotic platform. Odyssey enables multi-vehicle collaborative autonomy, sensor fusion, health-monitoring and AI-enabled perception. HII Odyssey autonomy is COLREGs-compliant and enables cross-domain capability. Since 2007, HII autonomy has been installed on 23 vessel types and 22 programs.
