Tim Taylor

VICE PRESIDENT, ENGINEERING, TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN

Tim Taylor is vice president of Engineering, Technology and Design for Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, located in Newport News, Virginia. Named to this position in 2025, he is responsible for all ship design, construction engineering, fleet engineering services and test engineering, and for leveraging technology to improve shipbuilder efficiency.

Taylor is a Navy veteran who served as a nuclear machinist mate from 1986 to 1996. He then began his shipbuilding career as a technician in NNS’ nuclear test department. Since then, Taylor has held positions of increasing responsibility, including shift test engineer; manager of the hull, mechanical and electrical testing for aircraft carriers and submarines; director of test engineering; and sea trials director. Prior to his current appointment, he served as director of nuclear propulsion testing.

Taylor earned a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering technology from Excelsior University and a Master of Business Administration from Strayer University.
