Thomasina Wright

Vice President, Fleet Support Programs

Thomasina Wright is vice president of Fleet Support Programs at Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, located in Newport News, Virginia. Named to this position in 2023, she is responsible for all aspects of submarine and aircraft carrier fleet support, including Gerald R. Ford-class fleet support work.

Wright began her shipbuilding career in 1983 and has held positions of increasing responsibility in the company’s In-Service Aircraft Carrier Programs, including program director and production director for USS George Washington’s (CVN 73) refueling and complex overhaul (RCOH), and director of trades for In-Service Programs. Prior to her current position, Wright served as program director for the USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) RCOH, managing a $3 billion program with 4,000 employees.

A graduate of NNS’ Apprentice School, Wright earned an associate’s degree in mechanical engineering from Thomas Nelson Community College, a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering technology from Old Dominion University and a master’s in business administration from The College of William & Mary. She serves on BayPort Credit Union’s Board of Directors and served on the Virginia Stage Company’s Board of Trustees. Wright is also the Past Chairman of the Board for Cooperating Hampton Roads Organizations for Minorities in Engineering (CHROME), and is an active member of The Moles and The Links, Incorporated. She and her husband also founded The Kenneth and Thomasina Wright Charitable Giving Foundation to help students pursue their dreams in education.
