Don Godwin

VICE PRESIDENT, BUSINESS MANAGEMENT AND CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Don Godwin is vice president of business management and chief financial officer for Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, located in Newport News, Va. He is responsible for business management functions, including accounting, financial reporting and planning, analysis, rates and budgets, and program cost control.

Godwin joined Newport News Shipbuilding in 2017 with more than 20 years of experience in finance and operations management. Prior to his current position, Godwin was CFO for Hitachi Data Systems Federal located in Reston, Va. In this role, he was responsible for all financial reporting, accounting, pricing and IT functions.

Prior to that and since 1996, Godwin held various leadership positions for Harris Corporation and its predecessor companies, including assistant controller, CFO of Information Systems and most recently CFO of Critical Networks. As CFO, Godwin led multiple acquisitions and successfully restructured operations across the enterprise to increase productivity and profitability. Godwin was also instrumental in leading strategic transformation projects resulting in significant company growth and $2.5 billion in annual sales.

Godwin holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Virginia Tech and is a certified public accountant.
