Garry Schwartz

Chief Operating Officer

Garry Schwartz is the chief operating officer at HII’s Mission Technologies division. Named to this position in May of 2023, he works with the executive team to drive performance of Mission Technologies’ business portfolio.

Schwartz previously served as president of Mission Technologies’ C5ISR, Defense and Federal Solutions, and Mission Driven Innovative Solutions business groups. He joined HII in 2017 as a subsidiary vice president and general manager responsible for training and simulation, cyber, and engineering.

Prior to joining HII, Schwartz was a vice president and operations manager with Alion Science and Technology. He was also a vice president and division manager with SAIC, where he led a portfolio of domestic and international programs supporting a broad array of defense and federal customers.

Schwartz retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 2004 with more than 21 years of service as an officer and former enlisted Marine. During his military tenure, his occupational specialties included artillery, joint specialty officer, operations analyst and cryptographic technician. He served combat tours in Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He also served tours at U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command, U.S. Navy Central Command and Combined Force Maritime Component Command.

Schwartz earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in operations research from the Naval Postgraduate School.
