HII was one of 41 companies recently recognized for their exceptional support of U.S. Navy Reserve sailors.
“Reserve sailors live and work in two worlds,” Vice Adm. Nancy Lacore, chief of Navy Reserve and commander, Navy Reserve Force, said during a ceremony aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) in San Diego. “They serve in uniform, and they serve your organizations. And they do both incredibly well. But they don’t do it alone. They can’t. It only works when they have the backing of employers like you.”
Ryan Humrichouse, a capture manager, represented HII’s Mission Technologies division at the Navy Employer Recognition Event. “It was an important reminder of the critical role our country’s Navy reservists provide in supporting the Navy’s everyday operational capabilities and readiness,” he said.
The all-day event included a tour of the HII-built aircraft carrier, static displays of aircraft and facilities, and a presentation by representatives from Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).
“I recognized many Navy commands and departments Mission Technologies teams are supporting on a daily basis,” Humrichouse said, “from the USS Abraham Lincoln, to the surface vessels of the Navy’s 3rd and 7th Fleets, and the Naval Sea Systems Command that deploys HII’s REMUS unmanned underwater vehicle.”
Lacore became the 16th chief of Navy Reserve in August 2024. As commander of the Navy Reserve Force, she leads approximately 59,000 reserve component personnel who support the Navy, Marine Corps and joint forces.
“You are not bystanders to this mission,” she said. “You are partners in it. The time, trust and flexibility you offer to your sailors are acts of leadership — and of service. And they help keep this force, and this nation, strong.”
More than 150 Mission Technologies employees took a military leave of absence in 2024.
