CHRISTENING CEREMONY

Ingalls Shipbuilding celebrated the christening of Ted Stevens #DDG128 Saturday, August 19, 2023 in Pascagoula, Mississippi.

The naming of DDG 128 honors Ted Stevens, a former United States Senator for Alaska who served from 1968 until 2009. At the time he left office, he was the longest-serving Republican U.S. Senator in history.

While being a strong advocate for Alaska, Senator Stevens also promoted national security, worked to strengthen our military with modern weapons, new facilities, and improved pay and benefits. Senator Stevens served with distinction as a pilot in the Army Air Corps in World War II, earning two Air Medals for his service.

The late senator’s wife, Mrs. Catherine Ann Stevens, and his daughters Mrs. Susan Stevens Covich and Mrs. Lily Irene Becker will christen the ship as ship sponsors for the future USS Ted Stevens #DDG128.
