Christie Miller is vice president of Communications for Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, located in Newport News, Virginia. Appointed to this position in 2026, Miller leads the development and execution of NNS’ communications strategy and is responsible for employee and executive communications, special events and protocol, and strategic visits.
Miller joined HII’s corporate communications team in 2011 as NNS’ media relations manager before transitioning to NNS in 2018. Since then, she has held positions of increasing responsibility, including executive communications manager and director of communications.
Prior to her work at HII, Miller served as communications manager for the Virginia Economic Development Partnership and as a public information officer for the Richmond Police Department. She also worked as a newspaper reporter at The Progress-Index and The News & Advance in Virginia.
Miller earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Virginia Commonwealth University and protocol officer certification from The Protocol School of Washington.
