Prepare to catch lightning in a bottle at the HIIxAWSxCNU Storm Hackathon! This event brings together the brightest minds from industry and academia to use technology to solve challenges in the maritime industry. HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS), a 138 year old leader in ship design and construction is partnering with AWS to sponsor this hackathon which will take place at Christopher Newport University.
Over a 24 hour period, participants will leverage AWS solutions, other cutting-edge technologies, and their own ingenuity to solve a given problem chosen by NNS.
Both CNU students and NNS employees are welcome to participate. The event will include 12 teams of 5 people each, with prizes given to the top 3 teams in addition to the People’s Choice Award.
Get ready to innovate, collaborate, push boundaries, and have fun! Sign-up today!
At the upcoming Storm Hackathon in March, participants will have the chance to compete for exciting prizes as they strive for the top three spots. Each member of the winning teams will receive a prize, ensuring every team member’s effort is rewarded. In the past, prizes have included cutting edge tech like VR-headsets, Bluetooth speakers, and Fitbits, so this year promises an equally impressive lineup. Get ready to bring your best ideas and claim your spot among the winners!
A variety of online resources are available to help participants learn and explore key tools and services. AWS offers comprehensive documentation and tutorials for understanding cloud computing services, while Figma provides excellent resources for mastering collaborative design. Git’s platform is invaluable for learning version control, and Draw.io offers guides for creating professional diagrams and flowcharts. To ensure a baseline understanding, there will be a mandatory AWS Tutorial that each participant will be sent ahead of time.
