Julia Jones

VICE PRESIDENT, Quality

Julia Jones is vice president of Quality at Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, located in Newport News, Virginia. Named to this position in 2023, she is responsible for the shipyard’s quality assurance, quality control and compliance policies and programs. She also oversees the planning, development and enforcement of comprehensive and integrated quality and continuous improvement across the shipyard.

Jones began her shipbuilding career in 1998 as a senior operations coordinator. Since then, she has held numerous positions of increasing responsibility in operations, production control, nuclear support and corporate strategic planning. She also served as the trade’s director for Surface Preparation and Treatment and as director of Operations Integration. Prior to her current appointment, Jones served as vice president of Manufacturing, where she was responsible for the shipyard’s manufacturing of structural and component fabrication operations.

Jones earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Christopher Newport University and a master’s in business administration from Averett University. She is currently serving on the board of directors for the Virginia Manufacturers Association.
