NEWPORT NEWS, Va., March 10, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE:HII) hosted Rep. Gwen Graham, D-Fla., Wednesday for a tour of the company’s Undersea Solutions Group (USG) subsidiary.
Graham met with USG’s engineers to learn about their current work with underwater vehicles, including Proteus, a dual-mode underwater vehicle designed to deliver large payloads at distances of hundreds of miles in either manned or unmanned modes. Proteus is currently completing a simulated 30-day mission in USG’s outdoor test tank. Graham also received an update on USG’s overhaul and modernization of an Egyptian Navy submersible.
“Undersea Solutions Group provides our military a vital service that will continue to grow as our Navy incorporates more manned and unmanned undersea vehicles in its missions,” Graham said. “I’m proud to see these specialized, technologically advanced vehicles designed and built in north Florida. I appreciate the opportunity to tour USG’s facilities and meet with its employees to learn more about undersea vehicles and their capabilities.”
Graham represents Florida’s second congressional district.
