NEWPORT NEWS, Va., Nov. 6, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE:HII) announced today that it has donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross' Disaster Relief Fund. The money will help provide food, shelter, supplies and comfort to the people affected by Hurricane Sandy.
"With most of our operations along coastal waters, we truly understand the human suffering, loss of life and damage to property caused by Mother Nature," said Bill Ermatinger, HII's corporate vice president and chief human resources officer. "HII has joined other companies and thousands of private citizens to lend support."
HII is also working with the American Red Cross to establish a "microsite" for employees to donate directly. "Donations will go toward providing much-needed food, shelter and supplies to people who have lost everything," Ermatinger said.
