NEWPORT NEWS, Va., Oct. 1, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE:HII) announced today that its SN3 (Stoller Newport News Nuclear) subsidiary has recorded more than 1 million safe hours since its last Occupational Safety and Health Administration lost work day case.
"Worker safety is a core value," said SN3 President Nick Lombardo. "This milestone acknowledges the hard work and dedication of our employees to support our DOE client."
SN3 team members and subcontractors clocked 1 million safe hours through their work with the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Legacy Management. The company supports Legacy Management's post-closure responsibilities at more than 100 work locations throughout the contiguous U.S., Puerto Rico and the Aleutian Islands.
During these 1 million safe hours, SN3 initiated an assessment of the Legacy Management Support Integrated Safety Management System and Voluntary Protection Program to identify improvements necessary to support safety performance, with a goal of achieving a recordable case rate substantially below the DOE complex annual average.
