McLean, Va., (Nov 02, 2024) — HII’s (NYSE: HII) Mission Technologies division hosted its fifth annual Global Day of Caring on Saturday, Nov. 2. More than 450 employees and their family members completed 50 community service projects in 13 states, the District of Columbia and South Korea.
Garry Schwartz, Mission Technologies’ senior vice president and chief operating officer, volunteered for Operation Homefront, which provides relief and recurring family support programs and services to help military families overcome short-term difficulties so they don’t become long-term hardships.
“As a veteran, Operation Homefront has a mission that is near and dear to my heart,” Schwartz said. “I was proud to play a small role in our local project in Alexandria, Virginia. I was even more proud to see the breadth and depth of projects across the United States and around the world. It’s awesome to see Global Day of Caring grow along with our business.”
Miranda Williams, Mission Technologies’ manager of EEO and diversity, has coordinated the Global Day of Caring since its inception.
“Volunteering is a great opportunity to reconnect, meet new colleagues from across the business, and rally behind a shared cause,” Williams said. “It allows us to step outside our daily routines and make a real difference in the communities where live and serve. These moments of connection and service remind us of the bigger purpose we share.”
More community service events are ongoing, including a virtual blood drive for the American Red Cross and local food drives for the upcoming holidays.
