Vice President, Aircraft Carrier Programs and Fleet Support

Rob Check is vice president of Aircraft Carrier Programs and Fleet Support for Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, located in Newport News, Virginia. In this role, Check is responsible for planning and executing new aircraft carrier construction, aircraft carrier refueling and complex overhaul programs, carrier inactivations and off-site fleet support.

Check is a second-generation shipbuilder with more than three decades of experience in both submarine and aircraft carrier construction. He previously served in the New Construction Aircraft Carrier Program as program director for Enterprise (CVN 80) and Doris Miller (CVN 81), and as program director for the Virginia-Class Submarine (VCS) Program. Prior to his current appointment, Check served as vice president of In-Service Aircraft Carriers and Off-site Fleet Support.

Check earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from West Virginia University.
