Julia Jones

Vice President, Manufacturing

Julia Jones is vice president of Manufacturing at Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, located in Newport News, Virginia. Named to this position in 2020, she is responsible for the shipyard’s manufacturing of structural and component fabrication operations.

She began her shipbuilding career in 1998 as a Senior Operations Coordinator. Since then, Jones has held numerous positions of increasing responsibility in operations, production control, nuclear support and corporate strategic planning. She served as the trade’s director for Surface Preparation and Treatment, and most recently as director of Operations Integration where she led transformation efforts to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness within the division.

Jones earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Christopher Newport University and a master’s in business administration from Averett University. She is currently serving on the board of directors for the Virginia Manufacturers Association.
